Useful or Beautiful?

"HAVE NOTHING IN YOUR HOUSE THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW TO BE USEFUL OR BELIEVE TO BE BEAUTIFUL." ~ William Morris

I love this quote by William Morris, artist and textile designer, as this is how I live my life.

We all need useful objects in our day to day lives, to make our lives easier.  However, we must pay attention to how many of those items we are collecting, as clutter can easily creep in.  Personally, I like multi-task items and rarely keep anything that can only perform one task.  Useful objects must earn their keep for me.  Better yet, to be beautiful and useful!  Anything to the contrary is clutter.

Beautiful objects make you smile and happy inside, creating a sense of peace and calmness.  When we find something beautiful, we are called towards a vision of harmonious perfection. This is not only a quality in the object, but a longing in ourselves.

My favorite, most beautiful object in my house are the Roost Cherry Blossom Glasses.  I use them every morning in my bathroom, after brushing my teeth and every night before going to bed to take my nightly vitamins.  They always make me feel good and what a way to start my day and end my day!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  What is your favorite beautiful object in your home?  Please share with us, as we would love to hear.
